HTC U play is the latest smartphone under the U family of cellphones from HTC. This phone is slotted below the flagship model, HTC U Ultra, offering very close range of specs with the flag bearer. It is a very distinctive smartphone in the mid-range category with unique styling and in-built features. Previously, HTC code-named this device as Alpine and later changed to U-Play.

U-Play is based on the same platform of HTC U-Ultra, both on the same design principle of “liquid surface”. It is the newly developed 'smartphone styling' feature by HTC, where the phone is designed to look like liquid has flowed over the phone. The surface is so glossy that, it appears to shimmer and changes as the light hits on the surface.

It is a 5.2-inch super LCD device with 1920 X 1080 pixel resolution for 423ppi. The device is based on a Mediatek Helio P10 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space. The storage space can be expanded with an option of microSD card. U Play is powered by non-removable Li-ion 2500 mAh battery with fast charging capacity. It has an array of sensors like fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor and compass.
